What is Pay-As-You-Go?

Your Energy Sussex’s Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) service allows you to top up your meter and pay in advance for the energy you use – just like a PAYG mobile phone. It helps you keep tabs on the energy you’re using.

Pay-As-You-Go is really straightforward; an amount of money is credited onto a card or key, which you then insert into the meter. You can top up your card or key at any PayPoint, Post Office or Payzone.

Is Pay-As-You-Go the best choice for me?

Some customers find PAYG meters helpful for managing their finances. By topping up regularly you can build up a supply of credit to use during the winter months, ready for when you are likely to use more energy. However, prepayment tariffs are sometimes a bit more expensive, and some people find that their energy can run out at inconvenient times if they haven’t put enough credit on their meter.
