Helping our vulnerable residents

Your Energy Sussex is different to most energy suppliers because we are run on a not-for-profit basis. This means that the surplus we make is used to help local people who are struggling to pay their energy bills.

In 2020, we launched our Emergency Fuel Voucher Scheme with Citizens Advice to support vulnerable pre-payment meter customers who are facing a financial crisis.

The vouchers, available through Citizens Advice branches in West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton & Hove, are available to help qualifying customers from all energy suppliers to pay their energy costs.

When the scheme launched in January 2020, single applicants could receive £28 and with £49 available to families, but this was increased in April to take account of the additional financial pressures on households due to the Coronavirus ‘lock down’.

By becoming a Your Energy Sussex customer, you are helping us to build our Fuel Poverty Fund and support even more vulnerable people in the county.

Growing our customer base will help us to provide vital funds to extend initiatives such as the Emergency Fuel Voucher Scheme and our plan to provide our most vulnerable pre-payment meter customers with free Christmas energy, which proved such a success last year.
